From USA Today bestselling author Heather B. Moore comes AN OCEAN AWAY
Gina Graydon knows the last thing she’ll attract on her holiday in France is an eligible bachelor. Tall, outspoken, and with a weakness for laughing at the wrong moment, not to mention being much too occupied with reading gothic romances, Gina decides she’d rather live in her fictional world. Besides, the only man who pays attention to her at the resort hotel happens to be her father’s worst enemy. And that is far from romantic. Reading in a secluded garden, and dreaming about the perfect kiss, all keep Gina much too busy to consider Mr. Edmund Donaldson any sort of hero.
AN OCEAN AWAY was originally published in the Timeless Romance Anthology European Collection, and it's a companion novella to the USA Today bestselling romance HEART OF THE OCEAN.

An Ocean Away edition by Heather B Moore Jane Redd Romance eBooks Reviews
Absolutely devoured this short book! I have learned that anything by this author just hits the mark!
A period romance novella at it's finest. I love that this story is unlike any I've read before. I could actually relate to the character. "Gina took her literature seriously, and if truth be told, she'd rather read a delicious novel than do much else . . . with the exclusion of eating..." Yep, that's me in a nutshell! The main character (Gina) also has an imagination that goes wild and I LOVED that about her. Moore did an amazing job of creating that trail of thought that just goes on an on in the female mind.
"Gina laughed at the thought then sobered immediately. She really should stop reading so many novels. Sometimes it was difficult to tell what was real and what wasn't, and she had no one to blame for that but herself. . . and a few novelists."
You will love every page and when you get to the end, you will wish for more!
I've found a kindred spirit! Gina Graydon loves books (as do I) and goes as far as sneaking over the balcony of her French hotel room to devour her beloved romance books in a beautiful garden. She's got a very vivid imagination and almost seems to conjure up the most deliciously handsome and romantic hero. Edmund is captivated by this tall beauty and an almost Romeo and Juliet romance ensues.
This is such a delightful story that kept me with a silly grin plastered on my face. The characters are refreshingly life-like and humorous, making the most of events they find themselves in. My heart was swooning during the waltz and the stolen moments in the moonlit garden. The ending left me elated and sighing with satisfaction. Perfection. Yes, this morsel of a story is a pure, guilty pleasurable taste of romantic perfection.
PS I want that dress on the cover. Love!
Content mild, swoony romance.
*I received a complimentary copy which in no way affected my review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*
This was a fun novella. If you've read Heart of the Ocean you may recognize the character Miss Graydon in this book. I enjoyed witnessing her escapades. While some of the story isn't necessarily believable for the Regency era, I was vastly entertained. It is a novella, so if you go into it knowing that it's easier to let the small details go, like speed of relations, character development, etc. If you want a fun Regency read for an afternoon, this will do it.
This novella is the perfect little bite of sweetness. It begins with a girl who loves romance books and who escapes to the garden to read and dream. That right there was enough to make me love Gina. Is the cover so pretty? I love it.
Edmund sees Gina in the garden and can't help but be intrigued by her. He enters the garden hoping to meet her and learn more about her. It's all so very romantic and sweet!
I loved my minutes immersed in this book. It made my heart hum with happiness.
Content none- some kissing
-I received a copy of this book from the author. I was under no obligation to review and all opinions expressed are my own.
This book was perfect!!! I needed a really good, feel good and high in the swoon factor read and this one was amazing! Seriously any of this author's books hit that mark!
After tossing and turning the last couple nights and just not being able to sleep, I decided that I may as well be productive instead of laying there wide awake. So I went for my trusty kindle books! I finished the ending of a previous book, laid in bed for a while...still couldn't sleep so I thought "well maybe a short book and then I will finally be able to have my brain shut down and I'll sleep." As I scrolled through my books, I kept coming back to this one. The beautiful cover just called to me(and it was a shorter read so I figured I might be able to finish it in an hour or less if I still couldn't sleep). So, tap on the book, swipe to the beginning chapter and....hooked! A book about a young woman wishing for love yet no luck with suitors in the 1840s and she loves to read. Yep definitely caught my attention.
"Gina Graydon tucked a deliciously romantic gothic novel under her arm and stepped onto the hotel balcony of her second-floor room. That the hotel balcony perched over a shadowed garden, and the sun had yet to rise, didn't deter Gina from hiking up her wrapper and nightgown and climbing over the rail...This was Gina's third early morning foray that week into the Bordeaux garden, and she'd become quite expert at scaling the now-familiar wall...It was no ordinary book, but one by a female author who published under a nom de plume. Full of intrigue, dark English moors, a mysterious hero, and intricacies of kissing, which Gina had never before experienced, this was a book to be read in the wilds of the garden-a French garden, to be exact."
This is one of those books that was very fulfilling with enough backstory and character development to draw in a reader and fulfill any questions even though it's a shorter novella. I will say that I would love to see more about Gina and some of her escapades before meeting the mysterious man in the garden during her early morning reading excursion, but even without those I loved the antics that I did get to read about. This book was originally published in A Timeless Romance Anthology European Collection but will be released as a single novella on Jan 17, 2017.
Gina, for me, was a fun, vibrant and refreshing character. She was what society might consider awkward, but to me she was a breath of fresh air. Bubbly, giggly, and a heart that was open to all those around her with kindness and love(although most of them probably didn't deserve it). I found myself giggling along with her. I giggled(I couldn't rightly laugh out loud while everyone in my house was sleeping so I had to resort to a controlled giggle) at her antics, I giggled at her thoughts and I giggled at her thoughts that sometimes came unbidden out of her mouth. For me this story had a couple similarities to Catherine Morton(Northanger Abbey) and her love of reading and the silly thoughts that would plague her mind, from the books she read and her imagination combined.
When Gina is discovered in the garden by a gentleman on his balcony, she is mortified and then intrigued as she continues to have random encounters with him. Some of those fun encounters show her that he is not all that he seems.
I loved the ball, the French garden, her climbing abilities and one very swoony gentleman who might possibly break Gina's heart. Can she escape the turmoil in her family? Will she ever find true love, the kind she dreams of having? Will her father's business escapades leave her stuck with a suitor of his choosing? Will she ever receive that kiss she has dreamed of while reading about her swoony heroes and heroines of fiction?
This is definitely a read worthy of the 2017 swoony awards and very clean. Swoony kisses(real or imagined??? I'll let you read to find out) and the silly escapades of a young woman make this a delightful read when you need something short and oh so very sweet.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Happy Reading!!!
I thought this story was silly. For such a short story, it's truly amazing how many times the author could fit in the heroine blushing.
Amazing characters could be developed in such a short period of time. You find you want to know even more about them. Love the way Heather writes.
This novella, while will written, was just a touch too cheesy and left me feeling unsatisfied. It is clean, but not sterile. And I do like Gina.
